Botox Pre and Post Care
Botox Pre-Care Instructions
- Please let us know if you have started taking antibiotics or other medications since your initial appointment.
- Not taking Advil®, Ibuprofen, Aleve®, Aspirin, Motrin®, Vitamin E, fish oil, St. John's Wort, or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs 14 days before treatment will help decrease your chance of bruising. Immediately consult your prescribing physician before stopping any medications you are taking.
- Limit alcohol consumption 48 hours before treatment to minimize the chance of bruising.
- To help reduce the chance of bruising, take Arnica orally seven to ten days before treatment. Take as directed on the bottle.
- Deodorant may be worn on the day of your appointment if you are being treated for excessive sweating.
- Pregnant and breastfeeding women are not eligible for treatment.
- Treatment is not available to patients undergoing chemotherapy or radiation. Patients must have been in remission for 6 months before they can be treated.
- Tell your provider about all medical conditions, medications you're taking, skin disorders, allergies, anaphylaxis history, and other medical conditions.
Botox Post-Care Instructions
- During the same Botox® appointment, you may receive additional procedures. Dermal fillers can be done before or after a Botox® treatment. Microneedling must be performed before receiving Botox®.
- Within 24 hours, do not perform any strenuous exercise.
- Within 24 hours of injection, do not massage or manipulate the injection site. Within 14 days of injections, bruises typically resolve.
- Don't judge the final result until Botox®, Dysport®, or Jeuveau® have fully set in, although some benefits are typically seen shortly after injection. A full effect may not be seen for up to 14 days in some clients. An improvement in skin appearance may begin after Botox®, Dysport®, or Jeuveau® is fully set in.
- If you are being treated for excessive sweating you may wear deodorant after your treatment.
- Botox®, Dysport®, and Jeuveau® are FDA-indicated to last about 3 months. However, everyone is unique and the longevity and amount of product required will differ per person.
